Working nights.
I signed a night contract for a 6 week trial period. So, I'm kinda stuck with it for the summer at least. But here are all the upsides:
No horrible headaches from getting dehydrated and stressed like on day shifts
Nights are usually a lot easier (you have time to think, plan, prepare, etc.)
I get to spend quality time with patients before they fall asleep (time that I don't have during day shift).
I get to really help parents by letting them get some sleep.
I have time to play games or watch movies with the kids sometimes.
No doctors in my face, demanding that new orders be carried out right at that exact moment!
I feel prepared to give report in the morning to the next shift, and I'm not scrambling around.
Me time. Time to catch up on education modules, goal projects, other extra stuff my job entails.
Time to read, talk (quietly) to coworkers, and just kick back.
And... I only work a 13 hour shift instead of a 14 hour shift, because DAYS ARE INSANE!!!
The only bad thing is: only seeing Charles once in a while since he works 50 hours a week, day shift. But I have to brag about him again... he is AMAZING!!! Just like when we first got married and I had a horrible 4 nights a week job (where I stayed in a bedroom all by myself with non-verbal kids in houses in the ghetto of Ogden), he stays up as late as possible so we can e-mail and text. He is so sweet and caring!
People ask me how I do it...?
Lots of this during the night:
And 2 of these each morning:
Personal Progress "Specialist."
Yep, this is my new calling, given to me before we even went to church in our new/old ward. We are back in the ward that I have been in since I was 15. This new calling will be really fun I think! I'm excited to encourage the girls and give them rewards along the way, as well as get a new medallion for myself! Going through Personal Progress really strengthened my testimony. I'm so grateful for everyone who came to support me when I received it on February 29, 2004.
Huge positive: I get to go to Young Womens again!!! (I've had my share of Relief Society for a while!)
New Manager at Shell Rapid Lube!
This is my job on the side. Haha, jk! This is Charles' new position (as of a month ago)! I'm so excited for him! But it means he picks up the slack for other people a lot more, and he opens and closes a lot earlier and later than he used to. He also has to call and check on the shop on his one day off each week. And sometimes he just does it all when he chooses to send a mechanic home to cut labor costs.
So, if you need an oil change or anything, come to Shell in Bountiful! Charles is ready to serve you!
Assistant to the Ward Clerk... again?
3rd time is the charm!! Charles has this new/old calling in the new/old ward. He got his first experience with this in his singles ward. Apparently he didn't learn enough the first time, and he was given this calling again in the young marrieds ward. Now, he is an expert in record-keeping and accounting, and so they roped him into it again! (What do you say when they announce it in sacrament meeting and they haven't asked you beforehand?) Sneak attack!!
Upside: I no longer have early morning meetings on Sundays and he does! Okay, so this is only an upside for me!
Not huge changes, but just a little something to make our lives even busier. :-)

Oh Chandra. I miss you. We need to play so you can meet my little Dax, and we can catch up. I am pretty sure I know where your house is... I might have been there a million or so times. :) Give me a call, I don't work or anything for a while!
